Welcome to the NDS OHS benchmarking exercise for the 2nd quarter 2011 for the Disability Sector.
There is no major change this quarter. If you cannot complete the total hours worked feel free to just include the FTE but let me know what your organisation considers a full-time day e.g. 7.5 hours, 8 hours etc. I will do a calculation based on this.
Please ensure that you use the attached form.
Remember that I am asking that you include all safety incidents that staff are involved in if it could have resulted in an injury even if it did not cause an injury on this occasion. I am also asking for the number of time lost injuries as well as the number of days lost for injured staff in each service as this helps to calculate a real lost time injury rate and allow comparisons with other industries. Remember if there was a lost time incident there should be time lost. Also if you give me a breakdown of type of Disability Enterprise I will do a comparison of your results with available time-lost incidents for the industry you work in e.g. landscaping, printing etc.
We are also continuing to ask you to record the total days lost for each injury cause – see last column on page one. This is still not being completed by the majority of participants and therefore not reported on but it provides valuable info on the severity of the incident type.
As it is the end of the financial year please complete the total DAYS LOST for the 2010/2011 financial year as this will pick up any days lost after the end of a previous quarter.
The attached spreadsheet contains the information required. Please remember to fill in your organisation name!
The completed spreadsheets should be returned by August 5 at the latest with the hope of being able to finalise the report which will be provided back to you by the end of August.
If you have any questions regarding this exercise or other matters relating to the Disability Safe Project, please contact me on either email – susan.smith@nds.org.au or phone (02) 9256 3121.
